Social issues are also close to our heart. This is why Sanitas supports associations, clubs, organisations and projects that help disadvantaged people or people in need.
For several years now, Sanitas has made regular donations to PluSport, the umbrella organisation for disabled sport. The donations are collected by users of the Sanitas Active app by completing steps or reaching daily sporting targets. They are rewarded for exercise with virtual coins. These coins can then be redeemed for vouchers to spend in online shops or donated to PluSport. This way, a total of CHF 16,620 was raised for disabled sports in 2021. The money was put towards PluSport’s fund for prostheses and aids, which pays for special sports prostheses and equipment to help recipients lead a more active life.
Wir lernen weiter
The non-profit organisation “Wir lernen weiter” (Keep learning) was founded at the start of the cornonavirus pandemic in April 2020 with the aim of encouraging social participation and ensuring the meaningful reuse of discarded laptops. Donated devices are professionally refurbished by the “WLW” team and passed on to social welfare offices for a contribution towards expenses, who distribute them to people in need. In 2021, Sanitas donated 63 discarded laptops and a sum of CHF 14,000 to “Wir lernen weiter”. As part of the modernisation of the IT infrastructure at further Sanitas sites, this partnership is set to continue in 2022.
