After a back operation, 82-year-old Reinhold Zollinger was unable to help around the house for several weeks. His wife suddenly had to take on twice the workload and was pushed to her limits. The Zollingers were able to cope with this difficult situation thanks to support from Sanitas.
“I’m an active person and I like to keep busy. Suddenly I couldn’t do anything any more,” says a deflated Reinhold Zollinger. He and his wife have lived in a house with garden in Birmensdorf for years. The pensioner needed surgery due to a trapped nerve in his back. The tricky operation went well, but Reinhold had to take it easy and not lift anything for several weeks.
His wife provided the nursing care he needed and took care of the housework. This was quite some task for someone in their mid-80s. Soon she was exhausted. Just at the right moment, Reinhold Zollinger received a call from his medical care advisor at Sanitas. “She offered to organise a temporary cleaner to take the pressure off my wife, a service that is free of charge for Preference customers. I took her up on her offer immediately,” says Reinhold gratefully. For several weeks, a cleaning lady helped the Zollingers with vacuuming and cleaning the floors. Rheinhold’s wife was able to devote all her attention to her husband and felt very relieved.
