Baking cupcakes with Sani

Bake tasty cupcakes with Sani. It’s simple – Sani shows you how. Once they’re out of the oven, you can decorate them with sparkling edible balls, Smarties or little marzipan figures. Sani thinks the cupcakes look so tasty it’s almost a shame to eat them. Mmmm... but he can’t resist! Tuck in!

What you need to make your own:

Makes 12 cupcakes:

  • 120 g butter, melted
  • 150 g sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 170 g plain flour
  • 1 dl milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • Seeds of 1 vanilla pod or 1 sachet of vanilla sugar

For the buttercream:

  • 250 g butter (at room temperature)
  • 250 g icing sugar
  • You can add food colouring to your buttercream if you like.

Let’s go! First, pre-heat the oven to 180° (top and bottom heat). Place 12 cupcake cases in a muffin tray.

1. Beat the melted butter, sugar and eggs in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well.

2. Fill the cupcake cases evenly with the mixture. Bake the cupcakes on the middle shelf of the oven for 25 minutes, before taking them out and allowing them to cool completely.

3. Add the softened butter to the icing sugar and beat until smooth and creamy – this should take around 5 minutes.

4. Now you can start decorating: spoon the buttercream into a piping bag and decorate your cupcakes. You can add sprinkles, edible balls, chocolate chips, marzipan figures or Smarties to finish.
