Make your own scented soap

Sani knows how important it is to wash your hands – or flippers – regularly. Once he’s finished his spring clean he makes sure to wash his flippers with a gentle, scented bar of soap. Make your own scented soap with Sani.

What you need:

  • 100g soapflakes (around a handful)
  • 3 tbsp water
  • Large pinch of powdered food colouring
  • 20 drops of scented oil, e.g. lavender, rose or almond oil
  • Biscuit cutter, e.g. heart, star or moon-shaped

You’ll find the ingredients in chemists and/or in the craft section of a toyshop.

You’re ready to go!

1st step

Place the water in a bowl and stir in the food colouring. Place the soapflakes in another bowl and add the scented oil in drops.

Be careful not to add too much scented oil or you might get a headache.

2nd step

Add the coloured water to the soapflakes.

Knead the soap mixture until it is thick and smooth.

3rd step

Press the mixture flat (approx. 1 cm thick) and use the biscuit cutters to cut out the shapes you want. Alternatively, you can shape the mixture into a ball or bar shape.

You can use the soap immediately if you want, but if you leave it to dry at room temperature for around two weeks, it will get nice and hard.
