Greater transparency with the invoice translator

Sanitas is launching a user-friendly invoice translator, which will help our customers check their bills themselves in order to keep a closer eye on their benefit costs.

New function in the customer portal and Sanitas Portal app

In future, the invoice translator will show the individual tariff items in invoices submitted by patients or healthcare providers in a form that is easier to understand. This innovative software will make it easier for customers to understand their bills. In the customer portal and Sanitas Portal app, the translation will be integrated directly into the billing system and simply attached to the original invoice. The most frequent outpatient tariffs, such as bills from doctors, chiropractors and physiotherapists, will thus be made more transparent. This new function helps Sanitas make the billing process simpler, clearer and easier to understand.

What are tariff items?

Doctors, pharmacies and therapists issue invoices based on uniformly agreed tariff items. These appear on customer invoices as indecipherable numbers.

Good to know

The independent online comparison website moneyland.ch tested the mobile apps and customer portals of Swiss health insurers and published the results in October 2019. Sanitas secured the top spot ahead of CSS, Atupri, Sanagate, EGK and KPT for online customer portal functionality.

Best of Swiss Web: Sanitas wins gold and silver

At the Best of Swiss Web Award Night 2020, Sanitas made it on to the podium in two categories with its “Easy payment” service, winning gold in the “Business” category and silver in the “Innovation” category. This service allows customers to scan in bills on their smartphone using the Sanitas Portal app and to pay them quickly and easily by TWINT or credit card. The integrated invoice translator also creates more transparency by helping customers understand their claims settlements.
