Let your health insurer know if you have to do military service

You’ve received your marching orders and are due to start military service soon? During your military service, your health insurance is covered by the Suva military insurance. If you send us your marching orders we’ll suspend your current health insurance.

Suspending basic insurance

If you undertake military service for more than 60 consecutive days, you can suspend your basic insurance for the duration of your conscription. You don’t pay a premium during this time. Important: we must receive your application at least eight weeks before you start your military service.

Suspending supplementary insurance

On request, some supplementary insurance plans can also be suspended. Any supplementary insurance plans that cover the same benefits as military insurance can be suspended. These are usually supplementary outpatient insurance plans and hospital insurance for the general ward.

If you’re interested in suspending a supplementary insurance plan, give us a call — we’ll be happy to advise you.

Running coaching – fit for service

Recruit school isn’t a walk in the park. You have to be prepared for little sleep, strict rules and a tough programme. One big challenge is a long march wearing a rucksack weighing 10 kg. Be sure to break in your military shoes before starting. You’ll find it a lot easier if you’re physically fit when you start. Viktor Röthlin’s running coaching programme is a great way to prepare.
