Anyone who is resident in Switzerland is obliged by law to have basic health insurance in order to ensure basic medical care for all. All health insurers cover the same benefits under basic insurance.

You can get telemedical advice around the clock from the medical hotline. This is especially helpful if you’re not sure whether you need to see a doctor or if you have a medical query in the middle of the night.
Good to know: complete telemedicine consultations with medical advice are subject to charge under Medbase MultiAccess. They are billed in the same way as a visit to the doctor under basic insurance. In other words, you cover the costs until you’ve reached your deductible. A “complete” consultation means that the hotline does not refer you to a doctor. On average, you can expect to pay between CHF 30 and CHF 70 for every initial and follow-up consultation (without any emergency surcharges).

With Medbase MultiAccess, you can contact any Medbase pharmacy if you have a medical query. The pharmacists clarify your requirements and decide what to do next. They will consult a doctor if necessary. A key benefit of this model is that you can take advantage of a range of additional features directly in the pharmacies. For example, you can get a second opinion for minor illnesses or, if necessary, consult a doctor directly on the phone from the pharmacy. In some cases, these additional benefits in pharmacies offer a real alternative to going to the doctor.
