You can save money by opting for our initial telemedical consultation or choosing a plan with fewer frills. Compact One is the low-cost health insurance for cost-conscious people or families.

Step by step: it’s simple with Compact One

  1. Contact Medgate via the Sanitas Medgate app.
  2. A Medgate doctor advises you and draws up a treatment plan. In emergencies, they will initiate immediate steps.
  3. A doctor provides treatment on the phone, in a video chat or, if necessary and independent of the treatment plan, at their practice.
  4. You collect all the invoices and send them to us as soon as you’ve reached your annual deductible. If you use the customer portal, you can send in your invoices at any time.

Anyone who is resident in Switzerland is obliged by law to have basic health insurance in order to ensure basic medical care for all. All health insurers cover the same benefits under basic insurance.

The amounts listed are for maximum benefits and, unless specified otherwise, are valid for each calendar year. Benefits are granted only in accordance with the Swiss Federal Health Insurance Act (KVG/LAMal) and the corresponding ordinances, and the general terms of insurance and applicable supplementary terms issued by Sanitas.

How to cut costs and reduce your premium

The Medgate hotline for initial phone consultation is available 24 hours a day. For example, if you’ve had a cold for days and don’t know what to do. The Medgate doctor advises you on the phone or in a video chat and draws up a treatment plan. This plan is binding. This telemdical advice service optimises processes and lowers expenditure.

It's also a no-frills service, which cuts costs and therefore reduces premiums. For example, you can contact our customer service (0844 110 011) team from Monday to Friday only from 9 am to 2 pm. However, families are entitled to extra benefits, such as a children’s health hotline and an emergency nanny referral service.

You don’t have to contact Medgate in the following cases

  • Emergencies (but you have to inform Medgate within ten days)
  • Gynaecological check-ups
  • Maternity benefits
  • Treatment of children up to age six
  • Vaccinations
  • Dental treatment

Additional benefits for families and parents

  • Children’s health hotline: If your child suddenly has a temperature of 40 degrees, good advice is valuable. Contact our free children’s health hotline (0844 111 365) or use the Sanitas Medgate app to ask a Medgate doctor what you should do. It’s available round the clock, 365 days a week.
  • Emergency nanny referral: If your child is sick and needs care, but you have to work, we find you qualified child care. You pay only for the child care, we cover the referral fee. Call 0844 111 365 and press key 3 when asked to do so by the automatic message service.
